Auricular chondro-perichondrial graft in the reconstruction of the lower eyelid.

چکیده
The most common tumor of the eyelids is basal cell carcinoma. At this site, excision can be performed using Mohs micrographic surgery. Reconstruction of the upper or lower eyelids is a challenge due to their structural complexity and their important function. The eyelid has classically been divided into the anterior lamella, comprising skin, subcutaneous cellular tissue, and the orbicularis oculi muscle, and the posterior lamella, comprising the tarsus and the palpebral conjunctiva. In the posterior lamella, the tarsus provides fibrous and cartilaginous support to the eyelid as it is anchored to the periosteum of the orbit medially and laterally by the canthal ligaments. Successful eyelid reconstruction requires the repair of both subunits. At the present time, the techniques most widely used for the reconstruction of full-thickness defects of the posterior lamella of the lower eyelid are divided into tarsoconjunctival flaps, chondromucosal grafts, and chondroperichondral

Comparison of thyroid, auricular, and costal cartilage donor sites for laryngotracheal reconstruction in an animal model.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate and compare the use of autogenous thyroid cartilage with that of auricular and costal cartilage in laryngotracheoplasty (LTP). DESIGN A blinded comparison of LTP techniques using anterior thyroid, auricular, or costal cartilage as graft material in a rabbit model. Histological and anatomical analyses were performed on the laryngeal specimens 1, 4, and 6 weeks after surge...

OBJECTIVE Reconstruction of alar structures of the nose remains difficult. The result has to be not only functional but also aesthetic. Different solutions to reconstruct alar defects are feasible. A good result that meets the specific demands on stability, aesthetics, and stable architecture without shrinkage of the area is not easily achieved. METHOD A perichondrial cutaneous graft (PCCG), ...
متن کاملRehabilitation of an Auricular Defect Using Surgical Stent
Reconstruction of a facial defect is a complex modality either surgically or prosthetically, depending on the site, size, etiology, severity, age, and the patient’s expectation. Loss of an auricle, in the presence of an auditory canal, affects hearing, because the auricle gathers sound and directs it into the canal. The auricle acts as a resonator to slightly amplify lower frequency sound...
